I am Chiara Molinaro.
My journey into this exciting industry started with a BADA (Film and Television) from the University of the Witwatersrand. This grounded me, and proved to be a testing ground for both my career and my passion for casting.
Following my studies, I joined MLA Casting and worked directly under Moonyeenn Lee. She took me under her wing and mentored me through-out the casting process - letting me learn and grow over the past 5 years. I have worked with countless local and international productions, playing an intergral part of their process and helping them create magic on screen.
Part of my passion is to foster relationships and build upon each production, ensuring the next is always better than the last.
My combined work with Moonyeenn has been nominated for an Emmy at the 68th and 70th awards. I am immensly proud of these and will continue to challenge myself during any production to repeat these successes. You can count on Chiara Molinaro Casting to bring you casting excellence.

SELF TAPES: HOW TO GUIDE
Equipment:
Phone with a Camera – If you do have access to a digital camera or even stills camera that is great however not necessary in terms of it affecting your audition tape.
Tripod/ something to lean your phone against – If do have a tripod for your device that is great and has it’s advantages, however it is not necessary for the final outcome of your self tape. It is imperative though to keep your phone still while you are auditioning. If that means that you have to lean your phone against something like a book or chair any means to keep your phone still, you could also use some Prestik or tape to keep your phone from falling over.
Curtain/ Sheet/ or Blanket – hang a sheet or plain untextured material behind where you are going to be filming. If there are too many textures or the material is too busy it will be a distraction for the Producers and Directors whereby possibly hindering your audition.
Sound & Lighting
Preferably try and film your audition in a quiet place (away from the busy main roads, and a lot of background noise). Carpets, furniture and the like can help dampen the noise & and also stop your voice from reverberating.
Shoot Mode
Please shoot in landscape mode and not in profile mode. Place your reader just off screen so that they can also be heard on the audition tape, also keeping your eye line on them and therefore allowing the Directors and Producers to see your eyes.
Sending the audition
Once you are done with your scene, please could you shoot an Intro for your beginning slate. If you could please say your Name, Height and do profile shots (MCU Medium Close Up) and then a long shot so that we are able to see your whole body.
If you could kindly email your audition to your agent and myself. If you are unable to email, as the file size is too large on your phone, I am happy to receive them via whatsapp from yourself or your agent.
